Senator McCain was in “damage control mode” Saturday after his apparent acceptance of Barack Obama’s timetable for surrender in Iraq. Here is a clip of his appearance on George Stephanopolis’s ABC show “This Week,” followed by his earlier comments about Obama’s plan:
So was Senator McCain pandering or were his comments about the timetable simply a mistake?

I believe that it was an honest mistake, but who knows. McCain has always pushed for removing most of the troops by the end of his first term (2013), but all of it hinges upon how things are on the ground. This is the same reasoning that was used by Gen. Petraeus in drawing down the surge to its current pre-surge troop strength.
